Students litter picking

Litter

We all know litter is a real problem in school grounds. As well as reducing the amount of litter we generate, it’s important for students to take some responsibility for the litter produced.

Visit our waste pages for suggestions to reduce packaging.

Bins

There is still confusion about what can be recycled. Labelling your bins with what can go in them helps students to put their rubbish in the correct bin.

This will also help to meet the new Simpler Recycling Legislation (see Waste page).

Reduce litter

You could hold a competition where students are challenged to bring their packed lunch in reusable containers. This would also be a good opportunity to hold an assembly to raise awareness about reducing waste.

Litter picking

We find students love a litter picker. Why not have some available at breaktime for students to use, or make time and a rota for classes to do a litter pick after breaktime.
