Waterhall Brighton

Waterhall

Wilding Waterhall is working to ‘wild’ a former Brighton & Hove City Council Golf Course, to restore fragile chalk grassland and improve habitats for multiple species whilst offering a unique opportunity for local residents and visitors to learn more about our internationally important local environment.

School visits can include: Guided safaris, pond-dipping, bug-hunting, wild-flower and bird identification, exploring habitats & micro-habitats, orienteering, monitoring biodiversity with quadrats and transects. Contact wildingwaterhall@brighton-hove.gov.uk to arrange a visit.

Lewes Railway Land logo

Lewes Railway Land

Situated in the Ouse Valley bordered by the river, the Railway Land Nature Reserve in Lewes has all the ingredients for a truly enthralling school visit. We have a wonderful mosaic of habitats including woodlands often full of birdsong, water meadows brimming with invertebrates, and ponds with frogs, newts and dragonflies. You may see a heron or egret, or even a peregrine falcon which nest nearby. We have a purpose built environmental education centre, the Linklater Pavilion, and the use of advanced technology such as digital microscopes and webcams.

Veolia recycling

Veolia Recycling Centres

See what happens to your waste

School children can now find out about waste and all sorts of materials that end up in the bin that could be recycled, thanks to Veolia’s new ‘Schools Pack’. The aim is to get kids thinking about where things need to go to be recycled or reused instead of throwing it away. With the real challenge being how to reduce your waste, the ‘lets go shopping’ game shows children how to buy things with less packaging. Getting kids ‘Waste Wise’ helps us all recycle and of course they will be our recyclers of the future!

Anyone interested in a school visit to one of their facilities please contact: 01273 511324 or email: info.southdowns@veolia.co.uk.
